Cairn Gravestone

Die and find your items and armor waiting in a stone cairn

FreeGameplay mod in Storage & inventory

In the Survival Essentials and Expedition Kit collections

Works with Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.45 and newer

  • Android
  • iPhone and iPad
  • Windows

.mcaddon file, 58 KB. Consoles and Java Edition can’t import packs.

Every ModChest mod is checked against the others, so no two use the same block, item or creature.

What’s inside

  • Cairn Ledger
Mod version
1.1.1
Updated
September 2026

What it does

Cairn Gravestone only works when Keep Inventory is turned on in your world settings, and it never changes that setting. With it on, dying moves your whole inventory, your armor and your offhand item into a stone cairn with your name above it, where you died. Your experience stays with you. Named, enchanted and damaged items keep their names, enchantments and durability.

Only you can empty your cairn, and nothing can break it. Using it moves stacks into your empty inventory slots; whatever doesn't fit stays inside, and the cairn disappears once it's empty. Armor comes back into your inventory, so put it on again. The Cairn Ledger shows your 16 newest cairns; older ones stay where they are.

With Keep Inventory off, the mod does nothing: your items drop as usual, and items that fall into the void or into lava are lost. A cairn can end up inside blocks, and if you die in the void, it waits at the very bottom of the world, which may be out of reach.

  • Saves your whole inventory, 4 armor pieces and offhand item
  • Names, enchantments and durability stay on every item
  • Only the owner can empty a cairn, and it can't be broken
  • Cairn Ledger finds your 16 newest cairns
  • Needs Keep Inventory turned on

How to craft it

  • Cairn Ledger

    Crafting table, in any arrangement

    • Paper, 3
    • Compass, 1
    • Amethyst shard, 1
    • Copper ingot, 2

How to install Cairn Gravestone

  1. Import the .mcaddon, then turn on both packs in your world's settings (Behavior Packs and Resource Packs). No experiments are needed. Needs Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.45 or later.
  2. Turn on Keep Inventory in your world settings. The mod never turns it on for you, and without it, no cairn appears.
  3. When you die, a chat message tells you where your cairn is. Go back and use it (right-click on Windows, tap Open on touch screens) to take your items. Make room first: stacks only go into empty slots, and the rest stay in the cairn.
  4. Craft a Cairn Ledger at a crafting table from 3 paper, 1 compass, 1 amethyst shard and 2 copper ingots. Use it (right-click on Windows, tap Find cairn on touch screens) to see the selected cairn's coordinates, starting with your newest. Crouch and use it to switch to the next cairn.
What changed
  1. 1.1.1

The cairn is built of its own mossy fieldstones under a carved headstone, instead of sharing the Basalt Colossus's stone

  2. 1.1.0

Which version do I have?

Minecraft Bedrock shows its version number in the bottom-right corner of the main menu. Everything on ModChest is built for Bedrock 1.26.45 and newer, on Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows. If your number is lower, update Minecraft from the store you installed it from, then import the mod.
