What it does

Craft the Magnifying Glass from a glass pane, copper and an amethyst shard, then aim it at something up to 8 blocks away and use it. A line of text above your hotbar tells you what you’re looking at.

For a creature, it shows its name (like cow or wolf), its current and maximum health, and whether it’s tamed. For a block, it shows its name and coordinates, plus the growth stage out of 7 for crops like wheat, carrots and potatoes. The lens only reads what you can see: a creature behind a wall shows the wall instead, and a chest shows its name but not what’s inside. Using it never changes the block or creature.

  • 8-block range, only for what you can see
  • Creature name, current and maximum health, and Tamed for pets
  • Block name, coordinates and crop growth stage out of 7
  • Reusable, and never changes what you inspect

How to craft it

  • Magnifying Glass

    Crafting table, in any arrangement

    • Glass pane, 1
    • Copper ingot, 2
    • Amethyst shard, 1
    • Stick, 1

How to install Magnifying Glass

  1. Import the .mcaddon, then turn on both packs in your world’s settings (Behavior Packs and Resource Packs). No experiments are needed. Needs Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.45 or later.
  2. Craft a Magnifying Glass at a crafting table from 1 glass pane, 2 copper ingots, 1 amethyst shard and 1 stick, in any arrangement.
  3. Aim at a block or creature within 8 blocks and use the lens (right-click on Windows, tap Inspect on touch screens).
  4. Read the result above your hotbar. If it says there’s no visible target within 8 blocks, move closer or clear the way.

Which version do I have?

Minecraft Bedrock shows its version number in the bottom-right corner of the main menu. Everything on ModChest is built for Bedrock 1.26.45 and newer, on Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows. If your number is lower, update Minecraft from the store you installed it from, then import the mod.
