What it does

Place the Fish Trap in water with open water around it: at least 12 of the 26 blocks touching it, corners included, must be water source blocks. Hold wheat seeds, bread, rotten flesh or a spider eye and use the trap to add 1 bait. Each bait becomes 1 catch after 60 to 90 seconds, one bait at a time, even while your world is closed. Use the trap with an empty hand to collect everything waiting, or holding anything else to see its bait, its fish and the time to the next catch.

A trap holds 8 things at once, bait and waiting fish together, so collect your catch to make room for more bait. Fish that don't fit in your inventory stay in the trap. A trap out of water or too cramped catches nothing until it has open water again, and says why when you use it. Breaking it drops the trap, its waiting fish and its unused bait. Named bait is never used.

  • 1 catch per bait, every 60 to 90 seconds
  • 55% cod, 25% salmon, 8% pufferfish, 7% tropical fish, 5% ink sac
  • Holds 8 bait and fish together
  • Needs 12 water source blocks around it and says when it's too cramped
  • Keeps fishing while your world is closed
  • Breaking it returns the trap, its fish and its unused bait

  2. At a crafting table, combine 4 sticks, 3 string and 1 fishing rod to make a Fish Trap.
  3. Place it on the bottom of a pond, river or sea at least 2 blocks deep, with water on every side of it.
  4. Hold wheat seeds, bread, rotten flesh or a spider eye and use the trap (right-click on Windows, tap on touch screens) to add 1 bait, up to 8.
  5. Come back after a minute or more and use the trap with an empty hand to collect your catch.

Which version do I have?

Minecraft Bedrock shows its version number in the bottom-right corner of the main menu. Everything on ModChest is built for Bedrock 1.26.45 and newer, on Android, iPhone, iPad and Windows. If your number is lower, update Minecraft from the store you installed it from, then import the mod.
